Does anyone know what has become of Jeff Gulvin the Author of,Storm Crow, Nom de Guere, The Procession, The Covenant among others? I believe that he was dropped by his publishers, Orion, as his next book was titled "The List" but it failed to come out.

A complete mystery - like the rest of you I've been trying to get hold of 'The List' for some time. I find it slightly ironic that such a good writer, who has an eye for future events should totally disappear off the radar (It is a bit too much like one of is characters). The Four books I own of his I pass round to my friends with the proviso they must come back. One explanation I recieved from one High street book seller was that he was dropped by his publisher. Yet everyone who reads his stuff gets hooked!

Hello, I though I'd reply on behalf of Jeff. He hasn't disappeared, he's just been ghosting for a while. Currently Jeff's co writing Long Way Down with Ewan McGregor and Charlie Borman - off to Cape Town for the finale on Thursday. As far as thrillers are concerned, I think watch this space are the words I'd use. Jeff wrote several novels under Adam Armstrong too, you get them on Amazon. Robert is still Jeff's agent - best agent in the world according to my husband! Thanks for your interest in Jeff - fab web site!!

Just saw the post by Kim Gulvin and thanks to her for updating us. I'm pleased to learn that Jeff is still writing but why ghosting. He is such a talented writer. I ordered the two books published under the name Adam Armstrong. I have nearly finished the Song of the Sounds and I have to say it is an excellent read. The book is not a thriller as such but this man can really write and he makes you want to go visit the area he's writing about. To Tony Hunter; I don't think "The List" ever got published but if Kim Gulvin drops back into the forum maybe she can answer the question. In the meantime I quess we will just have to wait and hope that another of his novels gets published soon.

New info re Jeff Gulvin. The Irish cop novel ghosting is in the bin. Thank God. The Procession is being optioned into a Hollywood screenplay and a new Harrison novel will be written in 2008. Anyone interested about this brilliant author who vanished for so long should speak to his agent Robert Kirby at United Agents in London.

A terrific author. Just finished reading 'The Procession', a book I accidentally stumbled across at my local library. Will definitely read more of his stuff. Plug his name into Wikipaedia for more info on how Jeff got 'lost' as an author (under his own name) before being 'found' again. It adds a few more details to maverick's last post.

I have read everything Jeff ever had published, under his own and other names. I am fascinated to know how he dropped from sight, notwithstanding Kim's explanation above. His writing is original, exciting and intensly visual, and he makes me care about what happens. Harrison will make a great character for a series of movies - with right lead... hmmm. Who do you think should play him ? Jeff, if you are ever in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, email me. You are welcome in my house anytime.

13.04.2008 Hi again, just thought I'd let you know that Long Way Down, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman won best popular non-fiction book of the year at the British Book Awards (Richard & Judy). Guess who wrote it! Jeff's book Song of the Sound (Adam Armstrong) goes into production as a two part German TV film in October. There will be a DVD, great production company doing it and starring Christophe Lambert and Veronica Ferres. Also two American screenwriters have bought The Procession so Jeff shelved Road to Zelambassa temporarily and is writing a new Harrison book, though this will take some time as he has to write another book for Boorman as of now. But don't worry, there will be a comeback like no other. Thanks for all the interest, Kim Gulvin.

I have so missed him and can't wait for him to get back into writing for us (selfish I know but he's such a gripping author). I must admit in my mind I thought there had been a problem with Bin Laden featuring in his books and then 9/11 following, I figured The List had been shelved for obvious reasons. Whether we will ever get to read it....I really don't mind so long as he starts writing again. I loved his earlier novels too and managed to bag Sorted, Close Quarters and Sleep No More through endless regualr trawls of Ebay and Amazon. I'm delighted to hear that he hasn't put his pen down for ever and will now keep googling him to see when his next fantastic piece of work is released. By the way Bill - Mark Billington is pretty good - has likable characters (such as Tom Thorne.

Russell, it's United Agents in London. If you have any trouble with the email keep trying; he's got serious spam controls because he likes his privacy. To everyone out there who has asked about him recently, he's genuinely touched. The reason for ghosting is simple, needs must. Unless your books sell really well it's very hard to make a living: I'm sure most writers experience similar ups and downs and my husband has been really inspired by the amount of people "looking" for him. I think it's largely because of you that he's working on a new Harrison book. Thank you all, you've been very kind.

Kim, if you get time to ask the question or know yourself, why did Jeff choose another pen name to write under aswell? I know a lot of authors do it, i.e. Richard Hawke is also Tim Cockey (highly recommended by the way!) Alexander Kent was also Douglas Reeman and I am sure there are dozens of other examples, but it does make it hard sometimes for us fans to keep track of their work!!

Tim, Jeff chose Adam Armstrong because those books were very different to the thrillers. Adam Armstrong was his great grandfather. The books are out of print and only three of the five were ever published in English. Given the German TV movie, which starts filming in October, there is a possibility those books might come out again. If they do I think my husband will put them under his own name.

Barbara, Jeff is going to be doing just that though it might take a while. Two screenwriters have begun work on The Procession in New Jersey and they want Sean Penn to play Harrison. If it comes together, fingers crossed, there is another Harrison book in the works and the potential for a whole lot more, both sequels and possibly prequels beginning with him as a nineteen year old just back from Vietnam. As you'll know he was in the US border patrol before the FBI so there's a lot of scope, particularly with the kind of interest these days in 1970's cop based stories. Hope this helps, Jeff would like nothing better than to spend his life writing Harrison, but he still has to ghost for a bit longer I think. He's just completed By Any Means for Charley Boorman, that book comes out soon, the first TV episode is BBC2 at 8pm on Sunday Sept 7th.

A new year's note to all you kind souls who've been keeping tabs on my husband. Some time back he started working with a retired Irish detective named Gerry O'Carroll who was one of the toughest and most notorious cops in Garda history. He appeared in John Boorman's movie The General and voice coached John Voigt with his accent. Gerry is also a columnist on the Irish Herald newspaper and a constant thorn in the side of the Irish government. It was an off and on project as Jeff was not keen to extend his "ghosting" to fiction as this was his area of expertise. The project has evolved somewhat however, and is no longer a ghosting deal so much as collaboration between writer and police officer. The book (as yet untitled) has been finished, the story inspired by real events that Gerry O'Carroll was involved in but it's very much Jeff's fictional creation. It is to be auctioned this month and Jeff's name will appear on the cover. it's gritty and Irish and hopefully it will spawn a series that Jeff and Gerry will work on together. The screenplay for The Procession is also almost finished, an undertaking by two screen writers from New Jersey. Fingers crossed this will generate the interest required for a series of Harrison sequels and prequels that everyone but the publishers seems to want. Happy New Year to you all.

Hello everyone, sorry to not get back to you earlier, but much has been going on. Phil re Gerry O'Carroll, the book was written but as yet hasn't found a home. Right now Jeff is again working with Charley Boorman but between the Gerry O'Carroll novel and Charley, he re-wrote a book none of you know anything about. It's a great adventure set in WWI and is called Happenstance. As I write this Jeff's agent Robert Kirby is offering it to UK publishers. So keep your fingers crossed. Assuming it is accepted it will come out as a novel by J.M Gulvin as it is a little different to what has gone on before. Hope this helps.

I am really glad to have found this forum topic. I was blown away by Storm Crow and I too do not understand why Jeff Gulvin does not have the recognition he deserves. His writing is excellent and gripping. He manages to demonstrate talent in his writing that is more than just about a fantastic plot, which a number of his thriller-writing peers are not able to do. I am really glad to hear that he is still at it. I hadn't heard about his pseudonym before today but I will definitely check out his other work. Keep going Jeff. A note of thanks to Anna, your kind words were very much appreciated. Whenever my husband is at his lowest ebb, (today for example), I show him some new comment and it's enough to keep him from losing faith altogether. I have to tell you, it's a great help to me in terms of keeping his spirits up. And thanks also to Val for creating this Forum, without her there would be no discourse. Barry, you mentioned Best Defence: that book is planned although it won't now be a Harrison thriller I'm afraid. It's actually a true story and deserves to be told as such, in Jeff's "fictonal" style of course. He's putting a proposal together early next month but it's so difficult to get anyone to take a completed manuscript let alone a synopsis these days. It's possible the ghosting will bring in enough to get it written, we'll keep you posted. Again thanks to all of you: you may, as Anna said, be all too small in number but the inspiration you give is immeasureable.
