Subject: Re: repeats of wire
The six seasons are in the bag so they cost little to nothing to put on. New episodes cost money to make. It must have been popular enough for 6 years, but now the costs must outrun the revenue (though I understand that Coastal productions ran on a shoestring). I thought someone else would pick it up. And 'lo and behold, The U.S. is going to be filming their version, as I understand, this fall, probably as a late season replacement or for next year. It's CBS in association with Dreamworks. And this is true as far as I have read about this series being done in the U.S. I can't imagine which Barbie and Ken they will cast in the roles. I already envision something like "Moonlighting" of many years back. Silly characters; silly story development; silly relationships. Even our best shows all have the obligatory hate/hate/love relationship which, when consummated, leaves nothing more to film. So, expect "Moonlighting" again -- only a different setting. Starring Tony Danza as Dr. Tony Hill and Jessica Simpson as Carol Jordan. (I made that part up). Or Ken and Barbie for those not familiar with those TV personalities and might have been lucky enough to have missed "Moonlighting" in it's prime. And the last episode of season 6. It certainly was an ending. What happens to a clinical psychologist who has to deal with something so against the nature of the character and his caring profession as a psychologist?
